Our Programme of Work

2023/2024

01

UNFAIR TAX CHARGES AGAINST INVESTMENT FRAUD VICTIMS

The Investment Fraud APPG is holding an Inquiry into tax charges impacting Investment Fraud Victims and calling for evidence from victims, HMRC, the Police and other key stakeholders.

02

FRAUD IN SPORT- SECTOR FOCUS

Investment Fraud in professional sport has reached unprecedented levels. Fraudsters consistency target professional athletes. The Investment Fraud APPG will be conducting an inquiry into fraud in UK sport in early 2024. We will be inviting former and current sports professionals and key stakeholders to give evidence and join our roundtable discussions. We will be publishing a report outlining prevalent issues and key recommendations to help support historic victims and to help safeguard future generations..

03

LAW ENFORCEMENT & REGULATORS RESPONSE TO INVESTMENT FRAUD.

We shall be conducting an end to end review of our system’s response to Investment Fraud to learn how both our regulators and law enforcement bodies are serving investment and pension fraud victims and to propose recommendations for reform.

04

PENSION FRAUD - SECTOR FOCUS

Our second sector focus will look at pension fraud. We shall be holding an inquiry into the key issues being raised by pension fraud victims and recommending reforms at a meeting in Westminster.

In recent years there has been a significant spike in cases of investment fraud across the United Kingdom but little focus on the plight of victims.

The APPG will focus on many issues important to investment fraud victims. Initially we will focus on the tax treatment of investment fraud victims and campaigning on behalf of victims..

MP’s and peers will be invited from across the political spectrum, in a demonstration of the willingness of Parliamentarians to work on a cross-party basis to improve outcomes for investment fraud victims.

We will vigorously campaign upon behalf of Investment Fraud victims”
